Most bottles have just one function – to hold liquid.

Now, an innovative container is promising to hold not just one but two beverages simultaneously. In fact, one can be boiling hot while the other ice cold.

And the array of incredible functions doesn’t stop there – its Chicago-based inventors say that the smart bottle has a total of 15 different features.

A group of Chicago-based inventors have come up with the Golchi – a smart bottle that has a total of 15 different functions

The bottle can be split into top and bottom compartments that carry liquids separately. They can also be joined together to form one bottle 

All of the compartments are dishwasher safe and are designed to be easy to clean. It also doesn’t retain taste or odour

GOLCHI’S 15 DIFFERENT FEATURES 

• The bottle can be converted into a conventional bottle for the ease of carrying one liquid in larger volume or can be split into 2 standalone bottles.
• It can carry two liquids in any combination of hot and cold.
• Vacuum insulation allows the temperature of the liquids to be retained.
• There are two different lids. One allows the drinker to sip slowly while the other allows the drinker to adjust the size of the spout. 
• Centre compartment gives 100 ml of capacity to carry protein supplements, tea bags, collapsible infuser, medicines, keys etc.
• Temperature indicator on both of the lids helps you to remember if the section contains hot or cold liquid.
• Top lid has a collapsible handle, which enhances the aesthetic of the bottle when it’s closed.
• You can buy a collapsible tea infuser that can be carried in the middle compartment. The infuser can be used for other cups as well. 
• The magnetic lock mechanism in the bottom lid gives an unobstructed drinking experience.
• Hygiene covers at both ends of the bottle always prevents the drinking area from coming in contact with the ground.
• Lower compartment is standardised in size to carry a can of drink and keep it chilled – perfect for people on the go. 
• The wide mouth of the lower compartment means it can be used as a food canister.
• All of the components of the bottle are easy to clean and dishwasher safe. 
• There’s double layer protection for leak proof assembly – both for cold and hot drinks.
• It fits into majority of car cup holders and the side pockets of bags.

The 11.3in tall Golchi has four basic configurations.

To start with, the bottle is split into two different compartments for liquids with an additional storage space.

These compartments can be joined together to form a single, larger bottle with or without the separate storage space.

Furthermore, the two compartments can also be separated completely to give two standalone bottles.

Both of the compartments are insulated so they can keep cold liquids cold for up to 24 hours and hot liquid hot for up to 12 hours, making it ideal for anyone heading off on an outdoor adventure.

The two different lids have different functions as well. One lid has a sipper function while the other has an adjustable spout 

You can adjust the drinking spout on one of the lids according to the temperature of your drink – for example, a smaller opening for hot drinks – and you can mark the container as hot or cold to remind yourself what’s inside.

On the other lid, there’s a sipper function that lets you sip the liquid inside. 

The lids and the drinking spout are also designed to be completely leak-proof.

But the Golchi is not just for liquids.

The separate storage space that’s used as a lid between the two compartments can also be used to store things like medicines or snacks.

For an added fee, you can also buy a collapsible tea infuser that fits snugly into the compartment. 

All of the compartments are dishwasher safe and the material is designed not to retain odours. 

The inventors are currently crowdfunding their creation through Kickstarter and with 19 more days to go, they’ve already got over $200,000 (£191,000) more than their goal of $30,000 (£22,900). 

Once the Golchi launches, the creators expect the bottle to retail at $49 (£37.42) plus tax and delivery charges.
