Dates for British singer Morrissey’s upcoming three-continent tour appear to have been leaked ahead of any official announcement, including five in Australia.

True To You, a reputable fan site for the former The Smiths frontman, on Wednesday posted 23 dates and locations of stops in the U.S., Asia and Australia later this year.

It includes five Australian stops in Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra, Wollongong, and Newcastle from October 22-31.

Sydney was conspicuously left out, likely because the 57-year-old played four shows at the Vivid festival last year, and the regional shows fulfil an aim from his last tour.

Morrissey had previously aimed to run a big Australian roadshow that included numerous stops in the outback, but didn’t have the money to pull it off.

‘Yes, it was planned, but the offers didn’t cover the travel expenses, so we couldn’t do it,’ he told News Corp in 2012.

The fan ‘zine’ that made the unofficial announcement marketed the tour list as ‘confirmed’, implying it may have some inside knowledge of the singer’s plans.

The man himself frequently appears on the site to participate in fan Q&As and it is considered the top online source for all Morrissey news.

When the singer played at the Sydney Opera House last year he banned all meat products from being served backstage and at food and beverage stalls because of his vegetarianism.

The controversial musician’s second album with The Smiths was titled Meat Is Murder, and he has been a vegetarian since he was 11.

The star previously said he sees ‘no difference’ between eating animals and paedophilia, claiming ‘they are both rape, violence, murder’.

‘Imagine, for example, if you were in a nightclub and someone said to you “hello, I enjoy bloodshed, throat-slitting and the destruction of life,” well, I doubt if you’d want to exchange phone numbers.’

Morrissey has never been shy about his views on meat eaters, once declaring: ‘If I’m introduced to anyone who eats beings, I walk away.’

In a bizarre online post, he wrote of TV chef Jamie Oliver: ‘If Jamie ‘Orrible is so certain that flesh-food is tasty then why doesn’t he stick one of his children in a microwave?’

The leaked tour dates are: Melbourne’s Festival Hall on October 22, Adelaide’s Thebarton Theatre on October 26, Canberra’s Royal Theatre on October 28, Wollongong’s WIN Centre on October 29 and Newcastle Civic Theatre on October 31.
