But as the season premiere of The Bachelor 2016 aired on Wednesday night, Richie Strahan reminisced about the time Sam Frost broke his heart on The Bachelorette last year.
‘I can never forget that first moment that I met Sam,’ he explained. ‘My chest was just pumping. Like, it was just going a million miles an hour. Wow.

‘We shared so many fun memories and so many fun experiences. I got to picture what I would look like growing old with the love of my life.’
Last year, radio host Sam revealed Richie was her second favourite on the first season of the Bachelorette after she picked Sasha Mielczarek as her winner.
The TV starlet previously confessed the handsome rope technician go before runner-up Michael Turnbull because she didn’t want to keep hurting him.

‘I felt Sam and I could have built a future together, but it wasn’t meant to be,’ added Richie. ‘That night Sam didn’t give me a rose was very rough for me.
‘I guess it’s just that feeling of putting yourself out there and, I guess, getting rejected. I understood Sam needed ti make a tough decision…I just didn’t want it to be me.’
A bevvy of 22 beauties will be competing for Richie’s heart during the new series.
Richie – who coined the term ‘cool bananas’ on The Bachelorette – was announced as the new Bachelor early this year.
