CHRIS WHEELER: Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has refused to rule out hijacking Manchester United’s world record bid for Paul Pogba.
United have raised their offer for Pogba to £92million after having a £86m bid for the France midfielder rejected by Juventus. They are also understood to have agreed personal terms in excess of £200,000-a-week.
But Pogba, who left United for nothing in 2012 after seven first-team appearances, is thought to favour a move to Madrid over returning to Old Trafford, and Zidane confirmed Real’s interest on their pre-season tour of the United States.
‘I don’t know if he will come,’ said the Madrid coach. ‘Until August 31 anything can happen. Everyone is interested in Pogba. He is a great footballer and when you are Madrid you always want the best (players). But now he is not a Real Madrid player, he is a Juventus player. I can’t say anything more.’
